Back to Hamlet

The line that ocnvinced me to vote for Randy Kelly in the Mayoral debate of Saint Paul this year was his statement that the most important thing the mayor needs to is help with the most important part of a successful city, safety. People need to feel safe walking and being in your city. But even more importantly investors need to feel safe in your city. They need to know that their investments will not be put at risk by any city actions.

Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,

This referes to the fact that we live because we fear the unknown of death. Well the same principle applies to a lesser scale when evaluating actions to take while living.

And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprise of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action.

It is vitally important that people feel safe in their decisions or for the most part they will not adventure on them. This is compounded when one is responsible for others. Safety is a good job for government.
